If you love to keep your new car looking, well, new, but don’t like having to spend so much of your free time in doing so, these top ten car cleaning hacks are for you!
1. Newspaper for windows
Easy and cheap to do – simply mix one part hot water with one part vinegar and spray with a spray bottle on the windows and wipe off with newspaper. And not just for car windows either, this hack works for all glass.
2. Squeaky clean headlights
Toothpaste – yes toothpaste is a great aid in cleaning dirty, foggy headlights. Apply a mixture of toothpaste and baking soda on a sponge and apply in circular motions. Then use a light cloth to wipe off the paste. Result – crystal clear headlights!
3. Keep the new car smell
Sprinkle some baking soda on your car seats and mats before hoovering to eliminate bad odour and give you cleaner, fresher seats.
4. Deep clean your seats
Vinegar is back again for this hack to help deep clean your seats. Hoover any dust and loose debris first and then spray a mixture of equal parts vinegar and warm water over the seat. Wipe away with a dry cloth. Not only will it clean your seat, but any nasty odours will fade too.
Note: If you have leather seats be careful not to let the leather become soaking wet.
5. Keep your dashboard shining
Dab a few drops of olive oil onto a cloth and rub onto your dashboard to give it a shiny finish.
6. Who needs an expensive tyre cleaner?
1 teaspoon baking soda, 2 teaspoons washing up liquid, and some warm water and your homemade tyre cleaner is ready! Wipe this mixture onto your tyres to clean and give you tyres that shine like new.
7. Cup holder hack 1
Often the most forgotten about area when it comes to cleaning, but it doesn’t need to be hard work. Take your travel cup, or any cup that fits in your holder, wrap an old sock around it and spray some cleaner on it. Place into the cup holder, twist and turn to clean!
8. Cup holder hack 2
Rubbish and all sorts of gunk are easily collected in your cup holders, and although you can use hack 1 to help clean them, here’s a hack to help make it even easier in the first place! Place a cupcake case into each cup holder, using it to line the holder and collect all the bits – simply remove and replace as necessary.
9. Bird poop away!
Tough stains such as bird poop can be eliminated with club soda. Soak the stain in the liquid for a few minutes and then blot with a moist cotton towel to remove easily.
10. Pet hair hack
If you travel with your pet frequently, you may notice it’s not that easy to remove the build up of hair, but here’s a quick hack to help you. Use a spray bottle with water to gently spray the seats and use a squeegee to collect the damp hair together. You can wipe the seats with a Magic Eraser afterwards for a thorough clean too.
